The boys and girls tennis teams both took runner-up finishes in the district tournament last year as several Mustangs advanced to the state tournament.
On the boys' side, Mason Collar and Colton Capps return from a state tournament appearance a year ago, and Alex Wroten went in singles.
For the girls, Lauren Morgan and Chelsea Dawes return after placing third in doubles' while Morgan finished as the district tournament runner-up in singles' play.

The Mustang and Lady Mustang tennis teams dropped a nonconference match to Little Rock Christian with the girls losing 5-1 and the boys taking an 8-4 defeat.
Winners included the girls' doubles team of Haley Washburn and Kaylee Swayne, the boys' doubles team of Corey Reed and Jack Spradlin, and boys' singles players Williams Campbell, Aaron Sims and Will Beggs.
Both the boys' and girls' tennis teams defeated Beebe Thursday with the girls' team taking a close 6-5 victory and the boys winning 10-6.
Both teams travel to Clinton Tuesday before a Thursday matchup with Lutheran at Burns Park.

The Mustang tennis teams were nearly perfect against Clinton with the girls earning a 7-0 victory and the boys capturing a 10-1 win.
Both teams now turn their attention to Little Rock Lutheran with match play beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Burns Park in North Little Rock.

Giving several younger Mustangs game experience in a nonconference match, CAC head coach Angela Almond was pleased with the progress she saw even with a loss to Harding Academy Thursday at Burns Park.
While the Lady Mustangs fell 9-0, every CAC boys' doubles team won on the way to a 7-7 tie.

The boys' tennis team used first-place finishes from Will Campbell in singles and Mason Collar and Colton Capps in doubles to win the 2-4A District Tournament in Heber Springs.
CAC finished with 16 points in their matches as Campbell defeated Tyler Peifer (SS Batesville) 6-0, 6-0; Ryan Mesa (SS Batesville) 6-0, 6-0; and teammate Alex Wroten (CAC) 6-0, 6-0 in the finals. Before losing to his teammate in the finals, Wroten defeated John Golf (Newport) 6-0,6-4; and Robin Show (Lutheran) 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles, Mason Collar and Colton Capps finished first by defeating Scott/Wilburs (Clinton) 6-1, 6-0; Templin/Faircloth (SS Batesville) 6-4, 6-3; and Shannon/Labat (Clinton) 6-4, 6-3. Ben Beggs and Gage Williams finished third by defeating LeBlanc/Burns (Lutheran) 6-2, 4-6, 6-2; losing in the semifinals to Shannon/Labat (Clinton) 4-6, 6-3, 6-7 (7-2); and winning against Faircloth/Templin (SS Batesville) 8-4.
The girls' team finished third overall as Meagan Wood led the Lady Mustangs in singles by defeating Whitley Poole (SS Batesville) 6-0, 6-4; losing to Heather Tillman (Heber Springs) in the semifinals; and defeating teammate Lauren Morgan (CAC) 8-6 for third place. Morgan finished fourth by defeating Kaytlyn Mabry (Newport) 6-0, 6-0; losing to Elizabeth Krug (Heber Springs) 4-6, 1-6; and losing the third place match to Wood.
In girls' doubles, Hayley Houston and Caitlin Caldwell finished third by defeating Lane/Lyle (Lutheran) 6-0, 6-1; losing to Heigle/Schultz (Heber Springs) in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-1, 2-6, 6-7 (4-7); and defeating Garey/Vinson (Heber Springs) 8-4. Haley Washburn and Kaylee Swayne were defeated by Smith/Donahue (Clinton) in three sets that featured two tiebreakers, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-7 (7-1).
Heading to the state tournament will be Will Campbell in singles and the doubles teams of Colton Capps and Mason Collar, and Ben Beggs and Gage Williams for the boys, and girls' doubles pair Caitlin Caldwell and Hayley Houston and Meagan Wood in singles.
State tournament play begins Monday, October 15, at Allen Park in Jonesboro.

The CAC tennis teams ended regular-season play with a Tuesday match against Episcopal at Burns Park. The girls played only one singles' and one doubles' match while the boys dropped a 6-2 decision.

The boys' tennis team got a runner-up finish from Will Campbell in singles as they finished as runners-up in the 4A State Tournament at Allen Park in Jonesboro. Alex Wroten won his first-round match, defeating Wayne Macks of Nashville 6-3, 6-4, before dropping a 6-1, 6-0 decision to eventual state-champion Matt Walters of Valley View.
In boys' doubles, Ben Beggs and Gage Williams defeated Stuttgart's Murray/Hoy tandem 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). In the quarterfinals, Beggs and Williams lost a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Union Christian's Laster/Mikola who won the state title. CAC's tandem of Colton Capps and Mason Collar were victims of a split-set, first-round upset by the Green/Liuzza pair from Subiaco Academy, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
The girls' team got a first-round win from the doubles team of Hayley Houston and Caitlyn Caldwell as they defeated Farmington's Ellis/Fowler combo 7-5, 7-5, before a quarterfinal exit to Heber Springs' Heigle/Shulz team, 6-4, 6-4. In singles, CAC's Meagan Wood dropped a first-round match to eventual state-champion Chloe Pratt from Fountain Lake, 6-0, 6-2.
