After finishing in the state's top six last season, the Lady Mustangs look for good things this year with the return of All-State performers Kelsey Hatcher and Ashli Roussel. Also returning for her senior season is Callie McAlister who earned All-Conference honors as a sophomore but was injured as a junior.
For the boys, the Mustangs hope that several newcomers will compete well for first-year head coach Chris Morse who was elevated from his spot as last year's assistant coach.

Deciding to stay close to home, senior Callie McAlister chose to further her academic and athletic careers at Harding University where she will compete for the track and field team.
McAlister was a key component for the Lady Mustangs track team as a sophomore in helping lead CAC to a state runner-up finish in 2006. Her junior season was cut short due to an injury, but McAlister has bounced back strong her senior year winning both the long jump and 400 meters in her last meet at Vilonia.
McAlister holds the school records in both the triple jump and 200 meters and has approached the record in the 400 meters twice this season.

Competing in Beebe, P.D. Elliott jumped a personal best and set a new school record in route to winning the high jump with an impressive height of 5' 6". Jumping against three fellow-2007 Meet of Champs competitors and battling harsh winds, Elliott was pushed to 5'4" to win the event. After securing the victory she immediately opted to have the bar placed at the final height for a personal best.
"During warm-ups she said it was a "5-6 day" and she was right," said CAC coach Danny Sullivan. Elliott also took first in the shot put with a throw of 31'10". "Just for fun she placed fifth in the long jump," said Sullivan.
Senior Callie McAlister remained unbeaten in the long jump taking first place with a jump of 16' despite jumping directly into a strong headwind. McAlister also took second in both the 200 meters and 400 meters, and placed fifth in the triple jump. "Perhaps her most impressive performance was her senior team leadership," said Sullivan. Elliott was due to run the anchor in the 4x100 meter relay but was in the midst of her record-setting performance. With only a moments notice, McAlister took Elliott's place on the relay team knowing that she would have less than five minutes to recover before running the 400. "Her sacrifice enabled Elliott to focus and set her mark," said Sullivan.
Jessica Lieblich ran a personal best 2:42 and took third in the 800 while Lauren Kegley took third in the pole vault. Emily Faith placed fourth in the 100 hurdles, and the 4x100 relay team of Rachael Gonzales, Emily Faith, Lindsey Burnette, and McAlister took fifth place.
