McAlister Signs With Harding

Deciding to stay close to home, senior Callie McAlister chose to further her academic and athletic careers at Harding University where she will compete for the track and field team.

McAlister was a key component for the Lady Mustangs track team as a sophomore in helping lead CAC to a state runner-up finish in 2006. Her junior season was cut short due to an injury, but McAlister has bounced back strong her senior year winning both the long jump and 400 meters in her last meet at Vilonia.

McAlister holds the school records in both the triple jump and 200 meters and has approached the record in the 400 meters twice this season.

Girls' Track Takes Fourth at State

Callie McAlister led the charge to a fourth-place overall finish at the district track meet in Nashville by winning the long jump, 200 meters, and 400 meters.  P.D. Elliott, who holds the state's best high jump this season, had a disappointing outing in the high jump but qualified for state with a second place finish.  Elliott rebounded by setting a new school record in the shot put of 34’ 5”.

Jessica Lieblich placed second in the 800 meters to qualify for state, and freshmen LaVerta Straham and Gracie Frizzell finished third in the 100 and 300 hurdles, respectively.

Elliott Wins High Jump at Cabot

With over 30 schools and more than 1,300 athletes competing, the Lady Mustangs' P.D. Elliott won the high jump for CAC's only first-place finish.  Callie McAlister placed fourth in the 400 in 62.6 and fifth in the long jump at 16’ 2.5”.

Emily Faith took eighth in the 100 hurdles in 17.5 as the Lady Mustangs finished in the top 15 with only a minimal number of student-athletes competing. CAC next competes Thursday at Sheridan.
