Mustangs Win First State Title

Eight CAC wrestlers won their weight-class as the Mustangs took the first-ever Arkansas state title in the 1A-4A classification. CAC earned 239 points overall to easily outdistance second-place Des Arc which finished with 189 points.

Drake Brainerd (103), Brett Hogan (125), Tyler Binford (135), Blake Hogan (140), Bradley Goshen (152), Jared Thomas (171), Jonathan Roberts (215) and Marco Pope (275) all won their respective divisions with Binford, Goshen and Thomas winning by pin. Blake Hogan won on a 16-12 decision, Roberts won a decision with a 5-2 score and Pope won with a DQ.

Roy Brown took second place in the 160-pound weight-class while Nick Rynders took third place by pin in the 189-pound division. Zac Cochran wrestled for third place in the 112-pound class before getting pinned in the third period.

CAC Takes Third at Bismarck

CAC traveled to compete in the Bismarck Tournament and finished third out of a field that included state heavyweights Catholic and Little Rock Central. All Mustang wrestlers finished in the top four places with Nick Rynders taking first in the 189-pound weight class and Blake Hogan and Michael Pope taking second place in the 140-pound and 160-pound divisions, respectively.
